Mindful Self-Compassion
“I learned a long time ago, the wisest thing I can be is on my own side” - Maya Angelou
An offering for perfectionists, negative self-talkers or anyone wanting to learn the habit of self-kindness
Six weeks, beginning Thursday, March 10th, 6:30 - 8pm ET
What would it be like to learn to:
Stop being so hard on yourself?
Handle difficult emotions with greater ease?
Motivate yourself with encouragement instead of criticism?
Become your own inner ally?
Mindful Self-Compassion is an evidence-based program that teaches you the skills to relate to yourself with kindness, care, and support. You will learn how to respond to yourself in the same warm and understanding way you would a good friend when facing a difficult time, experiencing failure, or noticing something you don’t like about yourself.
You may believe that being hard on yourself is necessary to succeed in life, because you believe that this is what has always worked, but at what cost?
Studies suggest just the opposite of this belief: self-compassion is a more productive and healthier approach than self-criticism. A growing body of research indicates that self-compassion has many benefits, including fostering happiness, well-being, creativity, and satisfying relationships; it also allows you to experience less anxiety and depression.
Our Mindful Self-Compassion six-week course is designed to meet the needs of busy people. We’ll cover key aspects of MSC and practice core skills. Program activities include short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion, and home practices. The goal is to directly experience self-compassion and learn to bring it into your daily life.

Valerie Driscoll, NBC-HWC
Valerie began her dive into mindfulness as a way to gain new perspective on a life-long struggle with depression. Teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction led her to MSC, and it was a revelation. The “how to be on your own side” felt like something foreign, but worth the effort. Wanting to share this important work with others who struggle, she trained with Chris Germer, one of the creators of the MSC program.
